At fortune In The Hood cookie co. we strive to promote education and self-empowerment within our community. Our mission is to combat the negative effects of cultural destruction and provide our youth with the resources and support they need to help them to succeed.
Teach By Any Means Necesary
As said by many of our scholars and it is true that the lack of knowledge self and our past can destroy the mind and the self-esteem of our youth. We have a responsibilty and duty to rebuild the self esteem and dreams of our childern by showing them the accomplishments of African Americans and people of color around the world.
So working in the inner city of Indianapolis with the youth and just having general conversation with them I found that our children were lacking the knowledge of self and a great disconnect to their heritage and past.
Knowing I had a responsibility to help I would talk to the childre during
snack time about African Americans and people of color around the world that had contributed great things to society.
That’s when...
"Fortune In The Hood Cookies"
was born.
